SAFETY
Our employees have remained as many as 23 years Accident-Free!
Here at R.E.C., we prioritize the safety of our employees. Through the combined team effort of our employees, subcontractors, superintendents, project foremen, and outside safety consultants, we ensure our employees only work in the safest working environments. Team work, proper planning, and knowledge of safety guideline and precautions have helped us achieve outstanding safety ratings with only one minor OSHA citation in the past 18 years and absolutely no citations in the past three years.
We have been members of the National Safety Council since 1993 and have a comprehensive safety plan based on the OSHA 1910 and 1926 Standards for General Industries and Construction. Eddie Rossi is our full-time safety manager who visits job sites weekly to ensure our safety plan is being properly implemented and to reward those demonstrating excellent safety practices. Mr. Rossi also reviews and updates our safety plan each year by collaborating with our insurance company’s Safety and Risk Representatives as well as independent Safety Auditors.
Each of our project foremen and superintendents are required to take a 30 hour OSHA safety course before managing our job site and field employees. Our project foremen conduct daily safety inspections and weekly safety meetings on each job site. Foremen and employees working on job sites are trained specifically to look for safety hazards and to identify defective tools, which are corrected/ replaced as they are identified. Accurate documentation is kept for each of these meetings and inspections. Should any unexpected emergency occur, all foremen are First Aid and CPR certified.

All new employees receive safety orientation upon hire with additional trainings and education provided as often as possible. Examples of our training topics, include: Personal Protection Equipment (PPE); excavation; fork lift operation; confined space; ladders; fire extinguishers; trip hazards; hazard communication and Safety Data Sheets (SDS); extension cords and GFCI use; hand and power tools; and fall protection. We also provide additional job-specific trainings if there are any unusual working conditions and/or special requirements of the job.
R.E.C.’S SAFETY TIPS
-
Make sure to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)every time you enter the job site. Even one instance of not wearing your PPE can expose you to serious health and safety concerns.
-
When working on the job site, make sure you are well-rested and take breaks when needed. Fatigue increases the chances of mistakes and injuries on the job.
